PORTLAND- Wednesday’s Portland Public School Board meeting was originally scheduled as a work session to discuss proposed closures and changes for the district. Hundreds of students, supporters, and alumni of Jefferson High School showed up at the meeting to protest the Board’s plan to close that school.
Once it came time for the Board to start their meeting, they announced that because only 4 members of the body were present they would delay their work session on the proposal. Instead they held a listening session for those interested in giving feedback on the plan.
Below is the full testimony of the event.
