SALEM- Governor Ted Kulongoski released a statement this week announcing his signing a proclamation encouraging Oregonians to participate in the “Earth Hour” event to show concern for climate change.
“Earth Hour” is a time when people across the world turn off their lights for an hour to show their concern for climate change.
“Earth Hour symbolizes that by working together, each of us can make a positive impact in the fight against climate change, protecting our future and that of future generations,” said Gov. Kulongoski.
In the proclamation, the Governor called on Oregon to be a leader in the movement against climate change and asked all Oregonians to join him in turning off their lights, as he will be doing in the Governor’s Mansion on March 27 between 8:30pm and 9:30pm.
Todd Wynn, Policy Analyst at Cascade Policy Institute, Oregon Politico’s parent organization, had this to say about the Governor’s proclamation: “Oregonians should probably get used to the lights being out for hours on end if we continue to protest any reliable forms of energy in this state.”

yep…i always knew gov. k wanted us to live in the dark ages….

Okay. So the Guv wants us to sit in the dark in support of Earth Hour, but will he?
In protest to all of the misrepresentations, deceptions and outright fraud being perpetuated about Climate Change, I will turn on all lights on my property on March 27th between 8:30pm and 9:30pm.
At 8:30 PM I will be turning every light on in my home to signify what a fraud and farce Kulongoski’s claims that CO2 and human activity cause the earths climate to change.

Back to the caves, everyone. What ever happened to human progress?
Perhaps our Governor should leave the lights out in Salem. It won’t help climate a bit, but might slow runaway spending.
WOW. Its just a symbolic gesture, a way of uniting people around the globe. Its something people can participate in, or not…as they feel. Why so much bitterness? And yes, humans are having an effect on climate, wildlife, and the world. What are you people reading, or do you read? Is it all just FOX news? I suggest Reuters as a beginning. There are many other online journals. Explore, try to learn something. Just trying helps to open your mind. Don’t turn on all the lights on in your house, that’s stupid
I’m from South Salem, and my children, my husband, and I turned off our lights, lit candles, played games and discussed Earth Hour. It was fun, and nothing to be bitter about.
The lights have been out for Governor K for a long time. There is little hope that they will ever flicker back on.
If he truly cared about our climate and our environment, he would learn something about them. That’s not possible if he insists on living in the dark.
Katy, here’s the point. Those of us who DO read about climate science, I mean the details!, know that most of the world is being duped by fraud and money grubbing where so-called “global warming” is concerned. If you don’t mind being duped, go ahead and follow the crowd. The rest of us are tired of the bull and deceit. Have you checked the North Pole recently? Refreezing nicely, baby, but you won’t hear that from Gov. K. or any of the other alarmists who are trying to make a living off of climate change and the horrible, frightening things that CO2 (which is not a pollutant) do. You can turn your lights off till kingdom come and not do a darn thing to benefit the earth. Perhaps a light needs to be turned on upstairs!
